Pixies plan new album - Ireland Online.

Legendary rockers the Pixies are planning to record their sixth album, following the phenomenal success of this year's reunion tour.

The band's agent has revealed the Pixies will tape the follow-up to 1991's Trompe le Monde early next year.

And frontman Frank Black is desperate to recruit veteran singer Tom Waits to produce the new record.

Black says: "I like the way his records sound."

Since playing at California's Coachella festival in May the Pixies have been touring the world with a greatest hits set.

The band released its first new material since 1991, the song Bam Thwok, exclusively on iTunes in June.

It has since topped the download charts.

4. Come on. You know it's gonna suck.
Is there one reunion record that doesn't?

5. I know no such thing.
Charles is still making good records. Okay, Kim isn't, and Dave is a "phenomenologist" now, whateverthefuck that means.

But as long as Charles Thompson writes the songs, they'll be good. And his records with the Catholics have all been recorded live to 2-track, so I'm sure he'll keep that raw sound, too.

6. Well, if Tom Waits is producing, he sure will.
But, I bet they'll just go with Gil Norton. I doubt Albini would be interested.
