Anyone from Ellijay, GA or Franklin, NC?
Going down there next week to look around for property... have found some nice land/homes on the 'net in both areas, was wondering what, if anything, you guys could tell me about the areas: life, restaurants, growth/lack thereof, etc.

Thanks!

1. Franklin NC Chamber of Commerce:

Not been there, but been in the surrounding areas - if it's like the other NC mtn places, it will be nice & calm, with some local restaurants and some chain ones as well...

2. yeah, the reason I have even checked Franklin
is b/c of their chamber site, it looks like a nice area, trying to bring in new business, etc. Real estate not quite as costly as Asheville or Brevard...

4. what exactly are you looking for?
Most small mountain towns have enough to support vacationers, but not good local economies that aren't based on tourism. I can see how Franklin would be a good 'getaway' town, but not much more. Is that what you are looking for?

very rural, small town. not much activity, but gorgeous semi-mountainous terrain. if you're looking for privacy/seclusion, it's perfect. moderate climate, 1-2 light snowfalls/year, never last long.

close enough to atlanta for excursions, 'bout 45 min to suburbs, 1+hr to city.
