Mac Users: I need help, please.
My most frequent e-mail recipient is griping because, he says, the links I send him via e-mail are not clickable. He's Windows, I'm Mac. (OS X, using Mail). No one else complains about this.

Thoughts??? Suggestions???

2. OS has nothing to do with your links.
Either you're copying them incorrectly, or he's doing something wrong.

It's probably one of your mail programs.

3. Hmmm...
I haven't had any of my windows friends say that about my links in Mail, but I don't send them "rich text" messages, I send "plain text". Here's how you do that:

In Mail, format menu, "Make Plain Text" (Shift+command+T, if you want to use a keyboard shortcut.)

It also may be something on his machine, perhaps a anti-spyware programme or something in his mail programme to disable sent links.

5. Its not a problem on your end.
It has to do with the Windows browser most likely. I use Safari with OS/X and never had problems sending links. This has to be a microsoft bug.

6. Yep.
His Windows won't receive links from me unless it's in plain-text format. I sent html mail to eight people and the links were clickable for everyone but him (including some Windows people who weren't using Outhouse Excess). ;-)

7. I agree, it's a Windoze bug.
I use UNIX (Panther) and have sent lots of links to friends who use Windoze.

12. WHY???
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 06:28 PM by Walt Whitman
So I can spend half my life installing software to protect myself against spyware and adware and have my computer freeze up 30 times a day and not do what I want it to do? So I can make Bill Gates richer? So I can lose all my files from a virus once or twice a year? So I can waste time making my computer do what I want it to do when my Mac does what I want it to do EFFORTLESSLY???

:wtf:

Fuck Windoze.

18. if those things are happening to you..
then you are doing something wrong. Seven computers on my home network, one that is up 100%, has had terabytes of data passed through it, and I don't get viruses, crashes, etc. Of course, I possess m4d 5killz!!

Keep your Windoze updated along with your virus definitions, and your PC should run just fine.

oh, and BTW.. it was a JOKE!

20. Didn't seem like a joke.
But if you say so, I believe you.

I don't have to do any virus definitions at all, though. :-)

And if you never have the problems I described, you are the only Windoze user I've ever known who hasn't. Congratulations on being smarter than a math professor, a lawyer, and a rocket scientist (3 of my 5 brothers, who constantly have those problems). :D

21. it was a joke in the ubiquitous "buy a mac" vein..
and I know of at least two other members of the board who don't have probs with their winboxes either. However, I do believe they are engineers as well.

WebTV was invented to give AOL users somebody to look down on.
