Somehow, the milk in the plastic bottles you can get from the grocery stores just isn't cutting it any more. Sadly, the only milk sold around here in glass bottles is Oberweis, and, obviously I can't buy from those neocons.

4. OR.......
make sure you chill it in the refrigerator after milking the cow.
You may have to put in a new block of ice first....the ice tongs are hanging on the nail in the barn.

I used to love Oberweiss ice cream and milk until I found out what a freaking racist nut Oberweiss is. Bastards.

3. I know
A favorite farmer of mine at the farmer's market began selling milk this year. In wonderful quart glass bottles with cream on the top. Nothing tastes as good and cold as that milk. The farmer also shows pictures of his beautiful farm in the hills of West Virginia and his happy cows all grazing in the field. I moved so that farmer's market isn't convenient to me anymore and I really miss that wonderful milk, without hormones from those happy cows!

I also miss his corn, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and eggplants.

Glass Milk Bottles Back on Line

Independent dairies have found a classic solution to a classic problem - how to differentiate their products

HAGERSVILLE - For older people it's a taste of nostalgia, for younger people it's a novelty.
For some of the remaining independent dairies in Ontario, it has proved an unlikely means to survive - milk in glass bottles .
For decades, this was the only way to get mass-marketed milk to the kitchen table. A generation ago cartons, jugs and plastic bags came along to push the milk bottle out of the supermarket cooler.

But glass never entirely died out. The appeal is simple - some consumers swear milk tastes better from a glass bottle, and looks fresher too. Unlike plastic or cardboard, glass doesn't alter the true taste of milk .

"Somehow it just tastes fresher," says Julie Morris, of Harrington, Ont., one of a niche market of Canadian consumers who prefer to buy milk in bottles . ...cont'd http://www.ecologycenter.org/iptf/recycling/Milkinglass.html
