4. I changed slightly on economic and libertarian
moved a tad bit to the left on libertarian and a tad to the right on economics. Funny thing is, despite being far left, Ive really never had a major problem with the party, nor do I have reservations about Kerry, I guess its the fact that I think the party while it has faults is good, and the fact that well democrats arent exactly the majority party around here, and I appreciate what the party has done to my family over the years since the new deal.

7. if given a choice I'd have to be to the left
of the party of Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush and the Chimp.
Chimpie and his handlers have only made things worse.
I think, in a process of inquirey looking at what appear to be major premises of each party, I am choosing between lezaiz faire/ Calvinism and something that promises more in the way of dignity for the least powerfull and able of society.

I cant stand Calvinism
The idea of Calvinism is that your fate is already chosen, same with Laizze-Faire, its elitist nonsense.

11. Nor can I
I really think this is at the root of Grover Norquists intention to deconstruct the social contract in American Society and let the have nots fend for themselves in an unequal world. A Mighty Fortress Is Our God... as long as god is on our side.

13. here ye be.
As President of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), Norquist helped the Heritage Foundation write the Republican's 1994 Contract With America. Shortly thereafter, Norquist led a right wing charge to "de-fund" the left, declaring that "We will hunt down one by one and extinguish their funding sources."

20. Go figure
I was the K-12 rep for Apple for all of Virginia - and Alexandria was one of my biggest accounts- It seems like in respect to economic policy, the Confederacy is still Thriving there. like they never lost the war. - but from the contacts I had there you would never get a sense that NRA, ACU, Swift Boat Vets for Truth, etc. would be an accurate representstion of the politlcs there... but one of my favoite reps listened to Limbuagh so i knew better than to share ANY opinions on current events.
We just stick to business. I think Virginia is largely very conserviative over all.

Am i wrong ?

21. Well Virginia is changing
The Northern part is socially liberal and economically more moderate, the southern part can be won if you have a guy who relates to the people there, Kerry may get some help with that through Edwards, Virginia is a possiblity.

22. Cool I would love to see that happen.
But here in the reddest of the red states, I'm thinking we are a long ways off from seeing a shift in majority opinion. But as an optimist - we make assumptions and write off things at our peril.

26. If Latinos are lied to enough
they're going to be very, very, skeptical to put it mildly that the GOP has anything but low paying jobs and marginalized socials services in mind for them.
Granted LLOYD DOGGETT, ( my former congressmen due to Tom Delay's gerrymandering ) , is in a competitive race with an Hispanic Tory / female / lawyer / aparatchik - he's still going to beat her. I can't see preaching tax cuts to folks low on the SES curve any more exciting than a wet charcoal briquette.

There is alot anger here. We are getting organized. This is not over. That said Texas has always had a political mean streak throughout the history of its politics.

Great state for men and dogs, hell on women and horses - kind of thing.

8. I have done this several times,
Edited on Thu Aug-12-04 08:53 AM by LWolf
and I'm always a left libertarian; it varies a little each time; some of the questions are a little vague. But I'm about as far left as Gandhi, and as far south as the Dalai Lama.

It's interesting to see where they place political parties; They've got liberal democrats on the right side of the compass. Looking at the placement of world leaders and primary candidates is also instructive.

10. damn I am losing now
hah yet youre happy supporting Kerry JP and Ive seen you defend him often. Hmmm I thikn maybe its not about where you stand on the compass but perhaps more of your own expectations of people is what makes you get a certain way about a candiate, just sayin, I consistently score high on this and I am a yellow dog dem and defend some of the less popular democrats like Gephardt, I sometimes even defend Lieberman because at least hes good on social issues, well most of them but the guy's rhetoric I accept is why people dont like him.

28. I beat ya on economics but you win slightly on libertarian
libertarian= social issues, choice, drugs, what not.
economic= taxation, labor, etc
I think I am more liberal on economics because Ive gotten my political training from children of poor miners and I got slightly lower on social issues because I think adultery is wrong, dont mind religious based schools that much.
