High School reunions, are they worth going to?
Just wondering, as my thirty fifth is coming up next year, and I have never went to one, nor had the desire to.

The only reason I ask, is that my wife really wants me to go. I keep trying to explain to her that I could care less about my high school, my high school memories, or the people that I went there with.

This is not animosity, or bad memories. It is simply I do not care. To me high school was a brief flitting period that came and went quickly, and now that I think about it, if the people in our graduating class gave a hoot about each other or what we were up to, we would have made an effort to keep in touch over the years.

That's just how feel about it.

You all?

1. I went to my 20th for the first time and really enjoyed it. It was a
meaningful time for me, even though I was hardly close to many people, it felt good to see everyone. It was more of a thing I did for myself. What happened was I rekindled a few friendships and now will be going to visit some of my old high school girlfriends this year. It was really a good time and I felt youthful again. By the way, the women held up great, the men didn't fair so well, even they agreed. If you want my opinion, I say go, enjoy, and relax, you have nothing to prove to anyone, just enjoy how all our lives went in so many directions. It's pretty cool, almost, too cool for school!LOL

2. went to my 20th
Had a good time. My 25th is coming up in October, I won't go. The reason I went to the 20th was I had live around the world and country over that 20 year time period and was interested in seeing some people. I had kept up with some of the people, but some others were interesting to talk to. May make it back for my 50th

4. I went to my 5th and had a miserable time.
Vowed I'd never go to another.

This month is my 30th. Still not going.

We were a group of people brought together by the arbitrary assignment of school district lines. To me, not worth celebrating.

I know many who feel the opposite. They should go, and God bless them.

6. I surprisingly enjoyed mine...
I skipped the 10th & went to the 20th...I was a serious black sheep in high school & went under duress (an old friend pleaded with me to go). I was surprised, but I really enjoyed it. Instead of cliques, everyone was just happy to see everyone. People who were assholes to me back in school were genuinely happy to see me.

Got rid of a lot of bad vibes for me, and I look forward to 25 (next year).

7. I didn't
Most of the people I hung out with in High School were either in a different grade or dropped out. But the real reason (and take a hint Phoenix area reunion committees) - they keep scheduling the things for Phoenix in August!

geez get a clue!
