I guess it goes back to my PWT roots. Lunch today was spam, onion, tomato, black pepper and miracle whip on white bread. Yum!

The classic 12 oz. can generally retails for about $1.99, less if it is on special (frequently).

It's 'cause we do a volume business in the stuff, I guess. It appears in the classic east-meets-west snack, the Spam musubi, which consists of a slice o' Spam on top of a block of sticky rice, wrapped with a strip of nori seaweed!

Then there's the place that offers it as a pizza topping...

I was in an article in the Boston Globe about it. Had a reporter over and my cousin and I talked about it and made spam and eggs. She wouldn't try it.

10. Hawaiians are nuts for the stuff, too.

You go into the 7-11's (or similar places) in Hawaii, and you'll find that they have "spam sushi" there. This consists of a slice os Spam between two layers of sushi-style rice.

Of course, it sits there under the warming lamps most of the day, and after a few hours the rice gets discolored from all the grease in the Spam....
