3. Leave it.
If you pull it, she'll think it disappeared and want to replace it. They naturally stop anywhere between one and 5-7 eggs -- if she lays more than that, or seems to be lethargic or straining, call the vet.

4. is she brooding them
nesting over them, etc?

she'll either do that for a while, and then ignore them. You can toss them if you want, she'll just make more.

is there a male around?

all it takes is the sight of one and she'll go into egglaying behaviors.

9. LOL
thing is about Murphee, she'd make a great bird "Mom". She puts so much effort into protecting her eggs, little does she know that they are not fertile. :( Poor little thing, she really looks in her element caring for those eggs. :)

She coos and chatters whenever I come around, she doesn't attack me or anything....I gave her some shavings to make a little nest and she looks quite content. :) My little sweetie... :loveya:

12. I've heard of some people replacing the infertile eggs...
...with tiny squeaky toys. It gives the mother something to feed and take care of for awhile.

14. Be SURE To Give Her Egg Food!

Many people don't supplement the cockatiel hen's diet with laying food and that can shorten a bird's life. When they lay eggs, if birds don't have sufficient caldium, they leach the calcium and minerals out of their own skeletons to make up for it.

Even if the eggs aren't fertile, she needs supplemental feeding to make up the deficit. Give her a teeny little cockatiel skritch from a cockatiel fancier. (we've had three, loved every one of them!).

8. No!

If you remove one egg at a time it may keep her reproduction system going. Some psittacines are programmed to lay a certain number of eggs and their systems keep cranking them out until they see that number in the nest.

Wait until she completes her clutch, then remove the eggs. If she lays egg after egg it will deplete her calcium reserves.

On edit: what eyesroll said.

I used to breed parrots and have absorbed a lot of information. eyesroll is right, especially when it comes to cockatiels.
