Okay...but, um...wait a minute...I *AM* the network administrator! AAAAAAAAAGH! How the hell did I become the network administrator?!

Dammit, Jim! I'm not a network administrator! I'm just a bumpkin designer! I don't know how to do this shit!

A brief recap of my week:
My office is upgrading to Mac OSX. All our OS9 fonts are totally fucked. They won't run on OSX in Classic mode, not even with Font Agent Pro - out of 300+ fonts, exactly 18 showed up in Quark.

The new PowerMac G5 assigned it's own IP address to the network hub. But there weren't enough slots in the hub, so when we plugged the old pooter back into that slot, it inherited the new IP addy, crippling internet access and bringing the network to its very knees on deadline day (!!!). Then the damn thing kept using appletalk instead of ethernet, no matter how many times I changed it back. And all this while I'm trying to put out a paper!!! AAAAAGH!!!!!

Then, after a grueling 12-hour day, my SO took umbrage at the fact that there was not enough of my brain left for social interaction. All I could do was surf DU for a bit, drooling in my beer. Big fight. Shee-it! We went from practically engaged to almost breaking up in ten minutes flat. All I wanted was to table the discussion until the next day. Which, when it arrived, I learned that the escalation was all my fault and I'd better be ready to attend counseling with her or else.

I just can't catch a break this week. I feel like buying an orange robe and moving to Tibet.
