Computer help please....how do I make a copy of a Non-Music CD?
I have some educational software games (phonics, math games etc) borrowed from a friend and I'd like to make CD copies.

I have copied the original to a cd but when I try to run it a message comes up that ask that I insert the original CD.

How can I get around this and make a workable copy of my own before I return the originals to my friend?

Thanks

2. it's called copy protection.
One way you may be able to get around it is to get "clone cd" and copy the CDs to your drive as CCDs or images. Then you can use a program like Daemon's Tools to spoof the CD protection and run the programs as mounted CDs.

Some companies put really hard to read spots on their CD, or intentional errors. These are its copy protection. When you get that message, it's looking for those errors.

The best way to get around is to get an old copy of a program called CloneCD. They used to have an option to enhance hard to read spots. In later versions they disabled this option in the US (there's a way around that, too). I've got a copy for posterity's sake. It works great.

If your CD is only slightly protected, have the CD burning software "skip errors." Sometimes this works with NERO or Alcohol 120%. It might work, or you might end up with another frisbee.

(on edit) There are several versions of CloneCD running around on Kazaa.
