Embarrassing Newbie Question
I'll give the usual line: been lurking here for a long time, but just started posting, blah, blah, blah.... but I'm still a newbie and have some dumb questions.

First, what does "n/t" mean? I see it all the time and haven't been able to figure it out.

Rather than list the other questions, is there a glossary of the abbreviations that everyone uses here?

Thanks!

1. Welcome to DU...
n/t means no text, as in, just a subject line and no message.

Just skimming through it I was able to make sense out of a few things that were baffling me (like BFEE)...

5. No Text = n/t
eom = end of message.
If you see things like these just ask or do a web search and you will usually find info on them.

Welcome to DU JustJersey.

6. I always put it in the text, but you're supposed to put it in the title

It's a stupid inside joke I have with myself.

Historically, you put "nt" in the title of your post so people don't have to scroll down to read it. It used to be helpful in long messages in the days of 24k and 56k.

Several years ago on another message board, in a real long post, I did it by accident, and somebody griped at me about it. Now I do it all the time.

So if you see me do it....it's wrong. Just put it in the post title when you've got no text.
