So-sick-of-this-woman-I-could-scream.

THERE, I said it. Like Cheney, "I feel better."

9. Photoshop Elements is a stripped down version with plenty of functionality
And an alternate that's popular with many people is Paint Shop Pro.

10. Do you have to take a class?
If you are kind of creative can you pick it up on your own?

11. Elements has what they call "recipes"
...different tasks which you click on, and you are then guided step-by-step. Creative stuff, functional stuff, all geared toward helping you learn the program. Paint Shop Pro has tutorials on their site. Both are user-friendly.

I love Photoshop, so I just jumped in feet first and have been using it for about 7 years now. Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro are both good, robust programs that you can definitely pick up on your own if you have the basic interest.

12. Totally..
The main thing that screws people up is the concept of layers.

A simple search on google for "photoshop layers" should give you all the info you need.

And I would check out http://www.good-tutorials.com/ for tips on how what filters produce what effects and ect.. Most of what I know of Photoshop came from that site.

Good luck and with a little practice you can put W on whatever you want. :)
