Poll question: Kill Bill Vol. 1 or Vol. 2?
Alright, haven't done a poll in a while, and since I just saw the second one I'm just curious. I'm going with two, even though I loved the boorish violence in the first one.

1. Well...
I voted for Volume 2, which I thought was just stunningly brilliant, but they really are *one* film. It was written as one film and broken up later (still written in a non-linear style, all over the place - for example, the scene at the start of Vol. 2 where Uma Thurman is driving on her way to "the last on on my list" is actually about 8 or 9 pages into the script) but I really believe they're two halves of one film.

That said, when you gotta vote, it's Vol. 2 all the way for me.

2. I think that the first volume is better because of the fight scenes.
They are very well made.

7. But great fight scenes do not a movie make
I agree the fight scenes are incredible, but they don't have the richly layered plot and quirky Tarrantino dialogue ("I loved that word - gargantuan - I so rarely have an opportunity to use it in a sentence.") that makes the second part of Kill Bill such a gem. As I said, though, they're really two parts of one movie.

3. Both

I can't split them up either. I absolutely hate violent films and I was not a Quentin Tarentino fan. I went to see Uma Thurman. I remember getting physically ill during the "coma" scene, but once I got passed that I let myself get caught up in the brilliance of Tarentino camera work. If a movie can keep me "suspended", hanging in some other worldly trance, then I'm a satisfied film goer. Both Vol 1 and Vol 2 did this for me in different ways.

4. oh god,
so hard to say. They're my two favorite films of the last few years.

If you put a gun to my head, I'd probably pick two just for the Darryl Hannah fight scene.

8. It was a perfect cinema moment...
Unexpected and shocking, yet made perfect sense when you considered the rest of the film. Kill Bill, as a whole, was a real masterpiece.

6. I haven't seen two yet
But I'll add here that I'm sooooooooooooo glad QT is making it possible that Jet Li's "Hero" is showing here in the states.

9. I saw a preview for that...
I'm excited! Hopefully the action will be as good as Kill Bill Vol. 1.

10. Jet Li has suffered by trying to be an "American Hero Action Star"
Screw that. He's always been the best when he's doing wire-work. He's the best there is at that form of martial art movie.

12. The action is very different in Vol. 2
but it manages to stand on its own very well as a separate film.

Vol. 1 was a wild ride, Vol. 2 doesn't have the same craziness, but is just as compelling and interesting.

Also, have you heard that he plans a third volume, based on the little girl from Vol. 1 who witnessed her mother's death getting revenge? I may take 20 years to make it.

11. Vol 1. definetly.
Better music, more style, more violence. And it had the anime story, which pretty much owned.

Ofcourse, the second had much more atmosphere and class.

Ack, so hard to choose.
