?

They're showing the "Queens of Comedy" and every other word is being bleeped out. It's after midnight, so I thought Comedy Central was able to show a bit more, considering they keep on showing "South Park: The movie" uncut after midnight.

1. They have some knack for only showing films they have to butcher.
I was amazed when I look back at the uncut versions of the Blues Brothers and Animal House. And I finally bought a DVD of Heathers. That's not the same film I watched when I was 15.

Reminds of the call-waiting tone on my telephone .

Oh here comes another beep , and another one ....

5. I'm now in another room than my tv
And all I hear is "beep", "Beep", "Beep". I'm not saying that's bad, but if CC can show SP: the movie uncut, then why in the heck can't they do the same thing for other post-midnight shows?

3. It's impossible
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 02:56 AM by fujiyama
for me to watch a movie on either network TV or basic cable. The commercial breaks themselves drive me nuts. To me it breaks the momentum and pace of the movies...and in some cases makes a relatively long movie impossibly long to watch.

Of course, there's also the censorship issue, which for some movies makes it difficult to understand the plot or in the case of comedies understand the punchline.

6. There's a great Mr Show sketch
that addresses that issue. They show what a Mob film would look like on cable with all the "rough" stuff cut out. The whole film lasts about 2 minutes.

4. Thank Bukowski I'm living in Canada..
Where basic cable here lets it ALL hang out as fr as words and nudity are concerned; it's like night and day from the States..

7. They probably think it makes it funnier ...
they're editing their words, but if you have to bleep it, it MUST be funny.

8. What I found funny is the choice of words "bleeped"
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 03:48 AM by khephra
She could get away with saying "asshole" and "bitch" but other words were right out. It reminded me of the time I was watching MTV and they cut out the word "God" from "Goddamn". It just doesn't make any sense.

9. even the regular networks
are allowed to show whatever they want between 10 pm and 6 am

no one does it though, not even most cable stations, except the extra ones like hbo, etc.

10. only broadcast networks are regulated by the FCC
Comedy Central could play it with every curse word intact... thats why they can show South Park: BLU. Their only incentive to censor is to keep cable companies from moving them out of basic lineups and into premium lineups.

11. I watched 9 1/2 Weeks on network TV.
This was a few years ago before I saw it on cable. I didn't know what was going on in the movie because it was so cut up.

I watched Pulp Fiction on the same network channel just to see how much they cut out. It was awful. Yes, I agree. It's a waste of time to show movies like that on regular cable and network TV.
