Ready for NBC's botched and biased Olympics coverage?

As much as I like watching the games involved in the Olympic games, I simply cannot stomach NBC's woeful coverage of these games. I am very very fortunate that I live in a place where I can get the CBC out of Canada. The CBC's coverage is far better and less over the top than NBC. If you can get CBC TV and you want to see the Olympics, watch them not NBC.

The only thing I am concerned about though is I wonder if the FCC is going to make the cable companies "blackout" access to the CBC? I am really surprised this has not been done yet in order to "protect" the NBC market rights in the U.S. I hope not.

1. You are lucky with the CBC ...

back in 1988, I lived in a city that carried a French Canadian channel; I don't recall what the channel was.

Anyhoo, we were flipping back and forth between that and the US network carrying the Olympics during the opening ceremonies. The Canadian one showed the opening with barely any commentary (not that we could understand them). The US one would have the hosts talk when there was any silent parts. There was no need for their commentary.

We watched the entire Olympics on the Canadian channel.

6. It annoys me..

that they have virtually abandoned coverage of the medal ceremonies.
I don't care whether they involve an American or not: I like seeing (mostly) kids who have worked so hard have the pride of their success.

Does CBC cover the events live when they are out of prime-time?
After all the blather, that's the thing that is most irritating to me. Even after the results have hit the paper, they still hold the 'main events' to the end of the prime-time broadcasts on tape delay.

My biggest hope however is that there is no violence during the games.

2. I hate the Olympics

as I do most sports. Basketball and wrestling (real wrestling) are the only sports I like. All I'm hoping for is a peaceful game without any terrorism.

3. We have CBC too...

I take it your in Seattle Cascadian? The great thing about CBC's coverage of the Plympics, that I have always found, is you get more of the actual competition and less on the come from behind stories, packages, montages, etc that NBC will show.
Sadly Canada is not as competative in the summer games as we would like to be, but that makes CBC's coverage more encompassing. They show so many other countries successes as well.

They played a commercial while my parents' country was coming out.

"And next out, the Republic of Ghana!"
