1. I've decided not to install
It's not worth it to me. There are so many patches on my windows machine it resembles a factory that was boarded up and spray painted by vandals already. I'll take my chances.

(thanks for posting that, though. I just got a request a few minutes ago to install something else that is supposed to improve downloads  )

2. I've installed it on three different XP systems now.

One Home edition, 2 Professional.

No problems to report yet - plus the beefing up of the internal Windows firewall AND added security against unwanted downloads in IE (i.e., Spyware) seem to be worth the wait.

On edit: Oh, and it finally adds a built-in popup blocker to IE. I'm a Mozilla fan now, but I do have to switch back to IE now and then.

4. I can vouch for Mozilla
When I use Windows I don't se IE, because it seems to be a favorite target for malware programmers. Mozilla is pretty trouble-free.

7. Same here, installed on two machines with zero issues.
Seems to be working fine for me.

3. That's why I switched to Linux
I'm not totally delighted with it, but at least it works, and the security seems good.

Windows' updates and patches will literally fill your hard drive. They need to go back to the drawing board and make a new version of Windows with real security from the beginning, not have security as an add-on.

That said, I'm posting this post in Windows, because I couldn't see a particular site in Linux without the plugin. I need to boot back to Linux before I do much more web surfing.

There's no perfect answer.

6. Switched to Linux
Linux systems are no more secure than Windows systems, In fact, their are Security Advisories for Linux systems almost every day.
