Guitar duels!
Best guitar 'duel" I've ever heard was from the TV show, "Reboot," between Megabyte, (who totally RAWKED,) and Bob.

1. I'm not familiar with that, but I nominate The True Believers
with three lead guitars.

They were a post punk band out of Austin TX, comprised of 2 brothers and a guy who played a pretty mean slide. Their recordings were never great but the live shows were amazing.

The tribute LP just out, Por Vida is tribute to the post True Believers career of Alejandro Escevedo, lead guitar 1. Lots of greats on the CD, Lucinda WIlliams, Steve Earle, Cowboy Junkies, Los Lonely Boys, Ian McClagen, the Jayhawks, Chris Stamey, SOn Volt, The Minus 5, Shiela E and many more. His brother Javier reworks The Rain WOn't Help you When Its Over from the True Believers era.

Probably not what you were looking for, but hey, I kicked your thread. :)

2. Not sure if they're "duels" exactly
But either of the two recordings of McLaughlin, Dimeola and DeLucia will inspire you to either practice like crazy or hang it up.

3. Chet Atkins and Mark Knophler
The album: Neck and Neck
It doesn't scream, or make your eyes bleed, but it is some of the best guitar work I've ever heard, IMHO.
