29. I hope so too.
Any defeat of a radical right politician can help us. The less their weird "principles" are out of the public mind, the better.

LOL As I wrote that I had a vision of how a freeper would see it. Enjoy, lurking freepers!

Among those weird "principles" are the concept of "traditional" marriage. First, "tradition" isn't a valid reason to uphold the status quo. Second, marriage has changed so many times over the eons -- which tradition shall we apply?!

Anyway, although it helps us when radical righties are voted out, our issues will ultimately be decided in the courts. We'll prevail there or I'll renounce my citizenship.

50. I just can't imagine having that many
but they certainly need you and you're doing a wonderful thing. There are just too many animals and not enough good homes. I see it all the time with my friends in animal rescue. It just breaks my heart.;(

I was so tempted when I was at PetsMart on Thursday. They have kitties there that are up for adoption and I always have to stop and see them. One of them looked pretty wide-eyed, and I suddenly realized that I must have been freaking them out, since I had my dog in the shopping cart! Oops! I just totally zoned out, watching the kitties!:spank:

52. Wow! I told you about Ursula, the woman who advised me
when I was trying to bring my cat inside. She works at the animal hospital and at the local ASPCA no-kill shelter. They also have a feral colony there. She and her dog get in her truck, every night, and go to where the ferals gather, to feed them. She has used the have-a-heart traps, as I used to finally bring in my kitty, but said that this only works with the young ones. The more experienced kitties know how to avoid tripping the trap. So heartbreaking. She told me that she had twenty-some kitties in her home, mostly young ones, trying to socialize them.

You must be familiar with Alley Cat Allies, the D.C.-based organization. My friend gave me a copy of "The Stray Cat Handbook" when I was trying, unsuccessfully, to bring my cat in and I learned about them from this. I called them and they sent me some great articles. The articles helped me out a lot. I would have made mistakes without them. They also do wonderful work, especially in educating the public.
