4. Global warming coming to a shore near you!
Anyone who thinks the weather ain't strange lately, is brain dead! Tornados in West Virginia and Hurricanes in Hawaii, sunburns at the North Pole! Santa don't know wheather to shit or wind his watch!

Lucky I learned ark welding, looks like I'll need to build one shortly! Two critters that I'll leave behind for sure, is the pair of FReepers! dAnnie How Long Can You Tread Water? The judge had better post the blueprints for a good sturdy Ark instead of the 10 commandments!

Come, we find out how long a friggin' cubit is in feet and inches!

7. I just got back from Homeboy Depot and Boy is my Pack Yak...
tired! It takes a hell of a bunch of 2x4s and wood welding rods to build an Arc! I did find a Nice American Flag at the Dollar Store! It was made in Hong Kong but the lower lifeforms will never notice!

21. Cubit = length from elbow to fingertip
Edited on Tue Sep-02-03 11:47 PM by starroute
In more advanced places, they standardized it at about 20.5 inches, but if you were building an arc by rule of thumb, that's how you'd measure.

Have I now let slip that I'm really 4000 years old?

On edit: Oops, I see somebody already got that one. (I hate it when somebody posts the answer as a sibling of the question rather than as a child. I always lose track.)

10. the cubit
is the distance between the elbow and the tip of the middle finger of the local sovereign. In Egypt the Royal Cubit was generally accepted to be roughly 20.62 inches.

Edited on Tue Sep-02-03 09:25 AM by northzax
er, no, we can't make god's measurements fit our modern lifestyle and convenience. next you'll be asking to let women show their faces and priests marry, and men will lie down with men, and we'll abolish slavery. damn, have you no respect for tradition?

Personally, I'm going with the biblical measurements W's arm should be about the right length, he's a GOOD christian, unlike some of you. pshaw.

20. We're both up here on O'ahu, 200 miles from the action
which wasn't really that much action anyway. People in East Hawai'i(the Big Island), closest to the center, are used to torrential rainstorms anyway. My friend down there reports that she actually likes hurricanes! Then again, she is a Green...

The major storm-related news up here was a rough-water swim event that got out of hand very, very quickly. Swells generated by Jimena made the surf too rough for all but the most experienced ocean swimmers. 360 (not a typo; three hundred and sixty) swimmers had to be rescued, out of about a thousand.

http://starbulletin.com/2003/09/02/news/index1.html

And you think of the islands as being calm and placid...

All in all, pretty much just a crappy day, and I was cleaning anyway. Opihi, I suppose, was planning something a bit more traditional, though.

22. Damn, that ROUGH WATER SWIM(2.1 MILES) almost was the biggest
disaster since Pearl Harbor.

The HFD Chopper had the biggest day in the history of the HFD rescuing people. This mornings paper sez one was missing, not sure what the StarBulliten sez. I guess not cuz Kamma would mentioned.

Some Braddah bettah tell the Wave Akuas, "Eh, no make la dat!!"

Come, we go Happy Hour.
