Your favorite cds of the last 10 years or so?
I've been out of the loop since about 1988. Was going through my cds and found that I'd almost entirely stopped buying records by about 1994. So gimme your choices. If this gets any traction, I'll try to compile a list of top picks and regard it as a sort of "Welcome back to the world" shopping list for myself.

Mine won't be on many others' lists:
Bob Mould: Bob Mould
Lyle Lovett: The Road to Ensenada
Tom Petty: Wildflowers
John Wesley Harding's New Deal... for the forgotten man
John Doe: Dim Stars, Bright Sky
Too Much Joy: ...finally

Feel free to put on as many or as few as you feel like, based on whatever criteria occurs to you. This is what people get for ignoring my end of the world poll. :)

2. this might be helpful . . .
my favorite radio station is WFUV-FM at Fordham University in the Bronx . . . each year they do a listener's poll of the best CDs of the year . . . go to their site (http://www.wfuv.org/) and scroll down the left to Best CDs of 2003 . . . if you go to that page, you'll also find links to the best of every year since 1997 . . . and these listeners have really good taste . . . :)

11. Michael Cretu's latest outing sucks... big time...
It was a real letdown considering his previous projects... and a complete was of 22 bucks...

15. REK Sr probably called him Earl in preference to Junior
On his first record(s), he's billed as Robert Earl Keen, Jr

12. Just put "In Paradise" on perpetual loop
I loved it even before I found out that it's a sequel to "Waterloo Sunset" (ie before I had any idea what it was about)
