2. Seconded
Plus, it gave us the Olson twins. For that all the copies should be burned.

4. Good choice
Man, I would have loved to be present in the network's boardroom when some soulless piece of shit was trying to pitch that idea to the company executives.

"Okay get this, we have a painfully average white family - BUT - one of their kids is a robot! It will be awesome"

Boom! A check falls into the guys lap :)

16. I watched several episodes,
tortured myself out of curiosity to see if by some miracle it had gotten as bad as it could get. It just kept getting worse. The acting was so lifeless, the whole fucking family appeared to be robots at times.

14. How anybody could put Cheers in that poll is beyond me.
Cheers is one of the greatest sitcoms ever. ALF was pretty funny.

As for Bosom Buddies, it was the sitcom that gave us Richard Scolari. One of the biggest stars of the last 20 years. I forgot who that other guy on the show was. ;)

17. Hey, I liked Bosom Buddies!
The concept was stupid, but the writing was actually funny. Tom Hanks deserved to break out of that. He made the show watchable.

Worst? Full House and Saved By The Bell.

gawd....just read an article online yesterday about the actress who played blair. she now spends her time posting on a religious conservative message board praising tabasco sauce on the tongue as an effective discipline technique for children.

19. I could never stand "Bosom Buddies"
Because of that show, it took me a long time to no longer find Tom Hanks annoying. I know he's advanced well beyond that, but I still don't particularly like him.

A lot of folks are mentioning "Small Wonder," and I know what you're talking about but I can honestly say that, mercifully, I have never seen that show. Probably would have voted for it if I had.

20. I saw Small Wonder a couple of times.
I was really little at the time (like about 6) but I could have told you that it was cheesey, even then.

from jumptheshark:

Does anybody remember this wretched show? I didn't, until I saw a parody on a rerun of Saturday Night Live. Pink Lady consisted of 2 Japanese girl singers who spoke very little, if any English. The head of NBC at that time was Fred Silverman, the creator of another horror show, "The Donny and Marie Show". He did the same thing he did with the Brady Bunch--just put them on the exact same formulaic variety program.

The only problem was, neither of Pink Lady's singers spoke OR understood much English, so that's where "Jeff" came in. Jeff was more of a translator than a comedian--as I recall, this guy made Alan Thicke look like Robin Williams. For those of you who can't remember, the 2 "Pink Ladies" would read off the teleprompter as if they had no idea what they were saying, which they probably didn't. Jeff would answer/translate as if he didn't know anything about comic timing, which he definitely didn't. An overall disaster of Titanic proportions.

The worst TV show ever! (And I include "Manimal" in that statement).
I think I was the only person on the planet that watched this show....... I only watched it because the 2 Japanese girls was soooo hot (puberty does strange things to you)...... The absolutely WORST show in TV history... Worse than Manimal, Supertrain (yea I watched that too), She's the Sheriff & Second Chance combined! TAKE THAT, NBC!!!!

The moment Jeff Altman said his first line in the first episode. That and having to witness Kei and Mie stripping off their kimonos to reveal red dresses and sing "Boogie Wonderland". This IS the worst comedy-variety show EVER. But that also means in some strange way it is the BEST comedy-variety show ever. :)

25. see? it was UNBELIEVABLY, insanely funny!
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 11:49 PM by buycitgo

doesn't get any better than this:

fterwards they joined Altman for some scripted banter, but a communication gap was immediately apparent. The girls giggled on cue at Altman’s unfunny jokes and recited their own punchlines in phonetic English, though they seemed to comprehend neither. Everybody looked confused. Regardless, Altman carried on like a slightly lecherous chaperone. He made fun of their thick accents, and they kept telling him how cute he was. He responded, “You’re just turned on by my sexy round eyes!”

This pretty much set the tone for the remainder of the series, in which our heroes were joined by the likes of Sherman Hemsley, Larry Hagman, Florence Henderson, Lorne Greene, Robby the Robot, Boomer the dog (star of NBC’s Here’s Boomer), and Bear the monkey (costar of NBC’s B.J. and the Bear). Old-school entertainers Jerry Lewis, Red Buttons, and Sid Caesar were trotted out for grandma; the kids were treated to videos by Cheap Trick, Blondie, and Alice Cooper. Jim Varney, later of “Ernest P. Worrell” fame, led a small supporting cast of regular players, which also included a fat guy dressed as a sumo wrestler who chased Altman around the stage.

The unimaginative sketches were built around Altman’s limited comedy stylings, featuring his trite impersonations of Johnny Carson, Howard Cosell, and “Disco Dick Nixon” – and that was just the first episode. He routinely drew upon his original characters as well – a faith-healing preacher, a punch-drunk boxer and TV pitchman Art Nuvo, hustler of discount artwork. The subject matter didn’t help, as much of the humor relied on already-stale topics: Jaws, the energy crisis, and a performance at the “Bland Ole Opry” by the Carter Family – Jimmy, Rosalyn, and Amy.
