Who here works weird hours ???
and what's your biggest sleep enemy? I work 6PM to 6AM Sundays Mondays and Tuesdays plus every other Saturday. I'd have to say I hate weed eaters and leaf blowers with a passion. :o

1. I work mainly second shift
I go in at about 4 or so depending on what's going on and usually I'm out by 11.

But when I work, I usually stop by the local watering hole and don't get home until 1 or 2 a.m.

I also hate weed wackers or lawn mowers. My neighbor has a landscape business and his mower is always going off.

2. My day starts at 3:00 a.m.
My biggest sleep enemies are the people who telephone at 9:00 p.m., and innocently express surprise that I'm in bed. To those folks I say, "Here's $20--- go buy a clue."

:P

5. Well, the newspaper bundles arrive at 4:00 a.m.
We own two bookstores, and one of them is also a news dealership. I have to be at work by 4:00 to receive the bundles, sort them by route and customer, etc., so that the carriers can have them delievered by 7:00.

:)

6. Too early for me!!
But since it's YOUR business, I guess you have to do what ever it takes for the business, right?

So I guess you stay and work at the stores all day, too.

11. Yes, most days.
We do have 2 part-time employees, but Tony and I work about 80% of the 'shop time' ourselves. it makes for a long day, especially during the school year.

7. I start at 3am myself.....
I work in a tv newsroom, so it's in bed by 7pm, up at 2 am and off to work I go.
I actually enjoy the hours somewhat because it give the opportunity in the afternoon to take care of other things.

9. You work the SAME
exact hours my husband does, even the every other Sat (though he does that during the day).

He can sleep through anything, so it isn't too bad for him, but we both hate his hours because he hardly sees us (wife and daughter) as a result. He is supposed to be going back to days soon.

13. I've had some success with a portable fan
right now it's trying to drown out earthmovers in the field across the street. I tell you those hours between 3:00 and 5:00 AM are real killers without enough sleep. :o

19. Tape aluminium foil on your bedroom windows and turn the TV on
for a little noise, it helps me sleep during the day. My bedroom looks like night time during the brightest time of the day.

14. Retail
I work a combination of mornings and evenings every week. I never have the same days off 2 weeks in a row. I get every third weekend off.

Retail sucks. :-(

15. Wanna talk a wicked schedule...
Two week rotation...

On duty Sunday 10pm to Wednesday 10am. Sleep at jobsite midnite to 6am. Off duty 10 am Wednesday to 230 Friday. On duty 230pm Friday to Sunday 1030pm. Sleep at jobsite midnite to 6am. Off duty 1030pm Sunday until 10pm following Sunday.

Sleep time at jobsite is "on-call" and average 3 hours a night.

But having that whole week off is soooooo sweet...

16. 0530 am till 230pm
Get up about 4am. Every morning I tell myself I'll go to bed early that evening, but it's usually about 1030pm before I get to sleep. Really look forward to Saturday morning (except for the every third Saturday and Sunday when I work).

17. Film shoots...
Shoot a 12 to 15 hour day, beginning around 7:00 or 8:00am Monday, and by the time Friday rolls around, I'm usually starting around noon or later. I see the sun rise about every other saturday morning...

I find sleep is just a matter of "get it where you can".
