6. It's not the eye you have to worry about.
It's when the wall passes over, then you better take cover. I have been in enough hurricanes in South Florida to know.

9. Exactly...the "Wall" is the worst after the "eye" passes over. You think
You're safe...it's very clear then "Whamo!" Stay safe Buddy...get back indoors!

10. That's why the Galveston hurricane killed so many people
When the eye passed over, they saw blue skies, and all came out to look around...and then...

whammo:(

12. Must not be that bad, you still have electricity
Here in Indiana we lose our power every time we have a storm.

Having been thru Hugo, I know how the hurricane situation can turn from an adventurous "high" to "holy s**t, I hope the house holds together."

I think this is the first one I've watchted actually cross the FL peninsula from the Gulf and then come back out over the Atlantic, which is what's supposed to happen.

Oh, ask you anything...

Are you having fun, or are you scared, or some of both?

16. I Was About Two Hundred Miles From Landfall....
The highest wind speed was seventy five miles per hour... I live in the northern most part of metropolitan Orlando; about twenty miles north from downtown where they had one hundred mile an hour winds...
I haven't went for a ride yet but most of the damage to my neighborhood is superficial... Newly planted trees uprooted and stuff like that...

I don't have my cable back but I have cable and dialup on my computer...

My business partner who lives about fifteen miles from me is without power. Florida in the summer without air condition is like Viet Nam...
