1. I quit last February
went on the patch (which I'd done many times before) - and after I ratcheted down to the 7mg, I bought that herbal supplement program Smoke Away and took that for a week or so. I don't even have cravings anymore.

I know I sound like a commercial, but it really really works!

lungs and deteriorated hearts?

7. Yes. I have tried twice, and failed
My best friend was my partner at SmokeEnders and once told me to meet her in the Ladies' Room with a cigarette. I thought she was joking and didn't show up, but she was serious. She has since been hospitalized twice for pneumonia, and has had to give it up. I am trying, too, and wish you well. I do know that it's not easy.:smoke:

15. Yes I am and I truly regret it
I have no good excuse for it, since I never started until the year I got out of college. Most of my family has smoked at one time or another, so I think that there must be a genetic predisposition for addiction to it. Also, my Dad, his brother and sister all died of cancer, so my stupidity is unbelievable.
:dunce:

9. Quit as if your life depended on it -
It does, of course. It gets easier after a couple of weeks but is still a struggle for about two years. Remember a few things: The greedy tobacco companies are profiting on your sure future health problems - don't continue to be their willing victim. You will save money many ways - cheaper insurance premiums - not just life ins. but often car ins. and homeowners, less damage to clothes, carpets and furniture, deterioration of home and car interiors, and of course the ever rising cost of the product. A smoking couple could easily burn up a very nice new car every 10 years, not including all the extra costs associated with smoking. A final thing - if you backslide some night while out with friends just pretend it never happened. You are not hooked again with one mistake. Good luck for one who did it a long time ago.

13. I have a friend online who has two things to keep her constantly
reminded of the fact that she used to smoke. A wheelchair and an oxygen tank. She hardly ever leaves her house. Think of her instead of the nicotine. She's always reminding everyone on the board she posts at - she'd be happy if someone here thought about her and decided to quit, or not start back up.
