I remember demolition derbies
on Wide World of Sports. And that figure 8 race with crashes at the intersection and cars going up ramps and driving on two wheels.

Oh, sorry, what were we talking about?

1. In the 50s, in B'ham, AL
There was a stock car racer (every Saturday at the fairgrounds) named NERO STEPTOE. I think that's the best name for a stock car driver I ever heard.

2. had a great figure 8 track close by
we went there a lot! thankfully, my dad was all over that stuff. my girlfriend's godfather was the guy who drove 'the car' in the movie 'the car' and he drove that track from time to time. those were the days! loved going home and washing the dirt, oil and bits of rubber off my face and outta my hair:)

7. Totally serious. Armada Fair here in Michigan and the SE MI circuit,
and we would go down to South Bend once a year for crazy 8 racing. I miss it.
