I just saw a blurb on the local news about the Olypic truce. Apparently, it is traditional for countries to sign a truce during the Olympic Games based on ancient tradion. Now I have no idea whether this is actually observed in fact most of the time (I would bet not, at least not most of the time). Of course the US was not present at the signing (although Tony Blair was, go figure). Powell said something to the effect that the truce was nice, but not really practical. Meanwhile the US continues to kill civilians in Iraq. I really hate this administration. They can't even be bothered to pay lip service even to this tradition. I realize it wouldn't actually mean very much but still.
