What's the oldest item in your pantry? Be honest!
I found a giant plastic jar of 15 year old (at least) zinc cold lozenges.

And some boxed Casbah hummus mix that has to be about 5+ years old. :scared:

13. You do realize that the spinach can can't possibly be thrown out now?
It's going to move with you forever, and then will be left with your children.

12. There is a jar of epsom salts in our basement
It was here when we moved in. We haven't removed it (it's on top of a rafter).
We bought the house in 1999. I'm pretty sure these epsom salts didn't belong to the previous owner (they were a young couple with a child), who moved in in 1996 or so. Judging by the label...it probably pre-dates the previous previous owner, who lived here for 20 years.

I really don't want to touch the epsom salts.

As for our pantry proper, there are probably some hot sauces that we brought here with us. But they last forever, if they're in glass, so no big deal.

16. Yeah - You can't toss the epsom salts now!
Feels like one of those chain letters that brings bad luck if you break the chain.

My husband's folks had a very old can of Glamoreen (sp?)in the cellar. I asked him to bring it home and he did. Drove home to Colorado from NYC with that in the trunk. Tradition is all!

19. Ancient SPAM
It had to be at least 15 years ago when they changed the SPAM logo from the round fat letters (similar to Frankfurter font) to thinner serif font. So, I bought and held onto one of the cans with the old logo. It's still in there somewhere.

Brand loyalty to a product I never use? What the hell is wrong with me?

I've also kept one of the old style Listerine packages (the paper tube that goes around the glass bottle)... why? I have no clue.

26. I got rid of it all last month
I reached up there to get a jar of mayo and found several cans of fruit laying on their sides because the ends of the cans were dome-shaped....These were cans of pinapple and peaches that I brought from Indianapolis in 1998...Cans of tomato juice, green beans, the fruit....All of it bulging.

I was SO afraid one was gonna "go off" in my face before I got it bagged and outside!
