Just ate a little after 4 days of not
I am hoping that I'll be alright. When I last ate food, I became ridiculously nauseous after about fourty minutes. The doctor is guessing IBS and prescribed some anti spasm medicine that I have only taken once so far because it is giving me blurry vision (a listed common side effect). I hope it works. Everytime that I have been too ill to eat for a few days, I am convinced that I am going to die soon because I'll never be able to eat again. I hope not. I hae to survive to vote for Kerry among other things.

1. Please read "Dying to Get Well"
After you read this book your whole world will change and you, if you practice the suggestions in the book, will become very healthy and will be able to eat good healthy food. Look it up on Amazon and read some pages of it. Next check out "Nature's First Law," another great book.

2. Hi Nikia
I've had severe IBS for most of my life (since I was about 8 years old). What medication did your doctor give you, if you don't mind me asking?

BTW, you aren't going to die, though I felt that way a couple of times and was even hospitalized for it once. It takes time to get it under control and find out what your triggers are. You'll eventually feel better. :-)

3. Hyposcyamine
That is the generic name, which is what I was given because of insurance reasons. I don't what the brand trade name is. I am suppose to be able to take it once before bedtime and each of three meals. I am going to take it again tonight. I am just nervous about side effects since I was almost killed by a side effect 8 years ago.
Thanks for the encouragement.

4. That's Levsin
That one never did much for me, but many people find it effective. I had good luck with Bentyl, but now I am pretty much medication free and control it with diet and stress management. Took me about 30 years though. ;-)

Remember to drink a lot of fluids, as you can get severely dehydrated from this. You also need to make sure you take a multivitamin and possibly other supplements as often you will not absorb the nutrients from the food you eat because they pass through too quickly.

Here's a site I highly recommend, its called Remedy Find. They post patient's ratings and personal stories about treatments and they have great links. This is their IBS page: http://remedyfind.com/hc_IrritableBowel.asp

One thing you'll have to get used to, locating a bathroom first thing everywhere you go. Thirty one years after my first attack and its still the first thing I do where ever I go. :-)
