and thought I'd check it out, being the Beatles freak that I am. Here's the press release:

"Beginning in 2005, Converse will offer globally, every year, a single, artist-designed Peace Chuck -- until global peace is achieved. A significant percentage of pre-tax sales from each year's designated Peace Chuck will be donated to peace education causes. EmpowerPeace (
http://www.empowerpeace.com ), a program dedicated to promoting harmony between students in America and the Middle East, was this year's recipient.
Mos Def joined the Youth with a Purpose Choir from Essex County, New Jersey, to perform John Lennon's, "Imagine." In a modern day recreation of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's symbolic peace gesture delivered 36 years ago at the inauguration of Lennon's, "You are Here" exhibit, 10,000 white balloons symbolizing peace were distributed in Times Square. To culminate the event, 365 white balloons were raised - just as John Lennon and Yoko Ono did in 1968, distributing 365 white balloons to represent the number of days in the year that each individual could personally affect peace.
Creativity, self expression and cultural understanding are the values shared by Converse, Mos Def, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and the millions of people around the world who wear Chuck Taylor sneakers. To complement the Chuck Taylor All Star Peace Collection, Converse welcomes artists from around the world to submit artwork that embodies their personal vision of peace. To view the gallery or submit artwork, visit
http://www.converse.com/peace. Converse will select one entry whose artwork will be featured in the Peace Chuck Collection.

Al Gore raised his kids on 'The Beatles' gospel!
London | August 10, 2004 3:08:53 PM IST
http://www.webindia123.com/news/showdetails.asp?id=45210&cat=World Former US Vice-President Al Gore's daughter Kristin has revealed that he raised his children on the gospel of 'The Beatles'.
Kristin said that the rock 'n' roll pioneers- Paul, George and Ringo were Gore's heroes and he used to quiz his four kids regularly about 'The Beatles'.
"My dad had me file his Beatles albums in order," Ananova quoted Kristin as saying to Fuse TV's American presidential election show Electile Dysfunction.
"It wasn't so bad categorising Rubber Soul and Magical Mystery Tour, but I didn't expect to be quizzed on it," she added. (ANI)
