What is the SCARIEST thing you ever thought???????????????
1 of mine back in '87 for some odd reason was "My cat, Ginger may have FIP" (presumably since I remembered reading in 1 of those cat publications either CATS or CAT FANCY that kitties most "at risk" for the dreaded FIP or Feline Infectious Peritonitis viral infection were kittens 2 years old and younger and OLDER CATS 13 and older and Ginger being 16, was in the LATTER CATEGORY.)

1. My Dad had surgery back in April
and as a result of a massive screw up on the OR teams part, he lost his vision permanetly. I moved back to the area to help out Mom and him, but Mom is there 24/7. In July, I had to rush her to the hospital. She was in agony, spitting up blood, etc. And then it hit me... If something happens to her, what the fuck am I gonna do?

Luckily, it was only ulcers (from dealing with Dad)... but the week that I had him 24/7 really got me to thinking... and it haunts me to this day. Mom has always been a homemaker so she is able to be there. My job takes me away for two or three days at a time. What am I gonna do if something happens to her before he is sufficently rehab'd to be independent?

3. Another one of mine is "Oh crap, DC as in WASHINGTON D.C. may get
"kicked in the teeth" in a sense by terrorists."

I had thought that on occasion, since I knew 2 people indirectly from Washington D.C. (the "bedroom community" of BETHESDA MD actually) and I wouldn't put it past Bush to "bring another attack about by design," as an excuse for WAR or something.

14. LOL I know
It's just...the heart is an amazing organ. It never rests until you die.
When you lie down, you can feel it beat. What if it stoped, ya know?

9. I thought I was dead...
I was motorcycling through the Chiapas mountains and jungle in Mexico on my way to the Mayan ruins at Palenque. I had spent the previous two days photographing a wonderfully surreal fiesta and was extremely fatigued when it happened. The road suddenly tightened up and I found myself too hot in a hairpin corner. I tried to save it but low-sided the bike, head on into a passenger sedan. As I saw the bumper approaching, I said my goodbyes and passed out from the impact. When I came around I thought I was dead but not quite departed. It took three days to shake the feeling.
As near death as I have ever been.

13. My experience was similar
I was a pedestrian who was stuck by a ford truck that, after a collision with another truck, began spinning around on it's front axel up onto the sidewalk where I was standing with my family. My first (scary) thought was that I might be pinned b/w the truck and the wall of the church that was behind me. My 2nd (stupid) thought was that I might be able to grab onto the truck and ride it like a merry-go-round until it stopped. Not a good idea, but I gave it my best shot.

15. Pretty Fricken Scary
I was coming back from San Diego, this just happened yesterday on Friday the 13th, driving the toll road from TJ home. The road goes parallel along the "fence", straight up almost ninety degrees and then straight down, no guard rails, and everyone drives like maniacs. My brakes went completely OUT,I mean they were gone, when I hit the pedal, the van just pulled from one side to the other. I downshifted to second, prayed, and had to pull on the emergency brake. The van sort of just kept going on it's own impetus, people were swerving and popping their horns, a giant truck was right behind me and he had to downshift, since he couldn't pass me because of the traffic, and I thought, this is it, oh shite, and I didn't even get to vote!!! Apparently, the plastic Jesus and the Miraculous Medal did their job, but I am seriously thinking about selling this car - a 1968 VW Van, and join the mainstream. Suddenly, airbags sound like a good idea.

17. Yikes!
Scary indeed. :scared: Mine was two years ago now, but I still catch glimpses of that little green pickup when I go through intersections.

I'm glad you came through.
