1. How did this movie get a PG13 rating?

With that rating it's gotta be a real snoozer.

2. Saw it tonight.
A little too much human yapping but all in all not a bad flick. Not great, but definitely enjoyable. Some totally cool special effects - especially for the aliens. (Whom I was rooting for).

5. MOVIE REVIEW
MOVIE REVIEW
'Alien vs. Predator' is an enjoyable schlockfest

By Ty Burr, Globe Staff | August 14, 2004

"Alien vs. Predator" is a movie based on a video game based on two entirely separate sci-fi horror series -- so whatever was interesting in the originals has long been bred out, like double-jointedness. If you go with your expectations in the subbasement, though, you may have a good, cheesy time. This is one schlockfest that may be enjoyed more by casual viewers than by hard-core fans, since writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson breaks with the established mythology of both properties whenever he feels like it. Like it matters.

6. What is a SCHLOCKFEST?
Do we get to see Sigourney Weaver give birth to a small crablike creature?

8. Not sure but it might have something to do with Wall Marts stores
I always did like festivals, but celebrations of poor quality that's a twist

schlocky or shlocky adj.

Our Living Language A good number of English words borrowed from Yiddish (a variety of German with an admixture of Hebrew and Slavic elements) are recognizably of foreign extraction because they begin with sound combinations (shl-, shm-, shn-) not found at the beginnings of native English words. Schlock is such a word; it is descended from a Middle High German word for a hit or blow, and thus came to refer to damaged merchandise, and then to merchandise of poor quality. Other words beginning with this and similar sound combinations are Yiddish also: schlep, schlemiel, schmooze, schmuck, and schnoz. These words may not be equally common in all regions of the United States; they are most frequently heard in areas with sizable Jewish populations that either speak Yiddish or are descended from Yiddish speakers, such as New York City. Of course, not all Yiddish words borrowed into English begin with the sound (sh); one need only think of bagel, lox, blintz, nosh, meshugga, and kibbitz to get a feeling for the variety of words that Yiddish-speaking Jews brought with them to America.

11. Shoddy journalism
It was based on a comic book back in the 80's.

7. It just BARELY gets away with the PG-13 rating
Believe me violence does not take a backseat, the only thing that makes this movie PG-13 enabled is because gory details aren't shown when humans are slaughtered or when the chestbursters do their thing, but there's plenty of blood and mutilation (on the alien and predator sides) to go around.

9. It would have done better if...
they had thrown the Terminator and Robocop into it...made it a free-for-all, kinda like "pro wrestling" does sometimes...It would have made for an even losier movie but of the $ is after all the bottom line!
