Donation network developing

State emergency workers are attempting to coordinate donations from those wanting to help Hurricane Charley victims.

They emphasize that cash is still the most valuable commodity, and that unwanted goods and unneeded or unexpected volunteers could only hinder recovery.

The Governor’s Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service has put together a list of agencies currently serving victims of the storm.

They are:

• Adventist Community Services, (800) 381-7171

• American Red Cross, (800) HELP-NOW

• Christian Contractors Association, (800)278-7703

• Church World Service (800)297-1516

• Convoy of Hope, www.convoyofhope.org

• Florida Conference United Church of Christ, 420 N. Magnolia Ave., Suite 250, Orlando, FL 32803

• Florida Interfaith Networking in Disaster, www.floridadisasters.org

• The Humane Society of the United States, Disaster Services (888) 259-5431

• Lutheran Disaster Response, www.elca.org/disaster

• The Salvation Army, (800)996-ARMY

• Southern Baptist Convention, www.namb.net

• Volunteer Florida Foundation (850) 921-0457

1. Looking for Faith Based Federal Dollars?
SIGN ON THE DONOR'S LIST TO HELP VICTIMS OF HURRICANE CHARLEY!

THAT WILL GET YOUR NAME/CHURCH IN GOOD WITH JOHN ELLIS BUSH ... WHO WILL NOT HAVE TO SPEND HIS FEDERAL, OR STATE TAX DOLLARS TO CARE FOR THE VICTIMS OF HURRICANE CHARLEY AND WHO WILL BE ABLE TO SHIRK HIS RESPONSIBILITY TO DO SO...AND WHO WILL, ADDITIONALLY, MENTION TO HIS BROTHER THE pRESIDENT THE NAME OF YOUR CHURCH AS ONE OF HIS KISS-KISS
RESCUERS.

PARDON MY CYNICISM BUT HOW MANY CHURCHES ON THE "HELP VICTIMS OF HURRICANE CHARLEY" LIST WOULD BE ON IT ... IF THE HOPE OF ATTACHING FAITH BASED DOLLARS WERE NOT LURKING FAR BEHIND?}(

2. There are some on there that are not religious-connected
With a Bush at the helm, it's to be expected that there would be a preponderance of churchy ones.:(..
