It is bothing fitting and enspiring music to hear right now.

Serious but positive.

Dare I say even, uplifting.

Bob Marley makes Biblical lessons come alive in a context of modern political oppression.

As one who learned the songs from age 8 on, I didn't even realize how much of is was respecting scripture until I learned the bible stuff later.

I found that when I was sitting with some Christian fundies on a plane, I was better versed in Biblical history than they were, thanks to the music of Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh.

"the Babylon System is the Vampire
Sucking the blood of the sufferers
Building church and university
Deceiving the people continually
Me say them graduating thieves and murderers
Look out now
Sucking the blood of the sufferers"

Interesting correlary with the Heritage University graduates predominantly running the show in Iraq.

"So they build their world
In great confusion
To force us in the devil's illusion"

3. I really like his music.
I find it interesting that every 3 or 4 years there seems to be a rediscovery of interest in his music. I know every couple of years I get back into listening to his stuff. He truely is a "world-class" musician. I think his "Legends" album is the #1 worldwide best selling album of all time.
