The way Allah is interviening on behalf of the Iraqi team right now we would be slaughtered in front of the whole world.

I am now actually grateful that USA men didn't qualify for the Olympics. (The women's team is more fun to watch anyway and really does have a chance of winning something)

but that easy chip shot that hit the cross bar and the really bad offside call by the center ref and was really good fortune for Iraq.

And the DIVING, if that is what makes a good team now, then Iraq should become a soccer superpower.

the refs should have been stricter about calling those. And, although I didn't see the offside call, my dad did and said it was simply dreadful.

they both played brillantly.

I'll give them that, much as I hated to see Costa Rica lose. I taped the game hoping to enjoy it over and over again. I think I will burn it now.

14. Not a good call

One player was in an offside position as the ball was struck but that player was not involved in the play to follow. The AR did not raise his flag (as I could see TV) and the center was not in good position to make that call.

Of course I am just bitter and disappointed. I would review the tape but it has been ritually incinerated in a moment of rage.

That off my chest, <gritting teeth> congratulations to the Iraqi team. I hope they continue to win. It will make a great story.

I'm Russian...so imagine what I must have gone through last month (or was that two months ago by now?) as dear old Russia got their butts severely kicked in the Euro Cup. That was an absolute bloody disaster.
But I'm happy now, because my favorite Russian team (Lokomotiv Moskva) is in first place in all Russia!!
