I don't think the performance of the US Olympic basketball team reflects well on the Bush Administration, in fact I think today's loss will subtly reinforce the "wrong direction" sentiment prevalent among the fans of poor coverage of international sporting events, as well as among every other segment of the population.
Temporary respite from the despair was found shortly after the Bush basketball team's miserable failure in a 30 second DNC John Kerry commercial in which the candidate speaks to the nominating convention to strains of stirring music, our man articulating solid populist themes, and earning the ovation of Americans who have hope of restoring the Republic.
Meanwhile, it appears as though at some point in the years intervening my attention to the Olympics, Beach Volleyball has been enshrined within the five rings. I don't think the enshrinement of Beach Volleyball will do much to counter the overwhelming feeling among the majority of sensate Americans that the USA under the Cheney-Bush Junta is heading in many wrong directions at once at a blistering pace heretofore unseen in this country and in most others.
