My six-year-old goddaughter just called me a "real fancy lady!"

I just got home from her birthday party. For entertainment, they had Buckaroo Bob, who was just waking up from a drunken binge or something, and his three miniature ponies. The girls all got to ride them around the backyard, much to their shrieking delight!

Anyway, I showed up in a sun dress, shawl and sandals; perhaps a tad overdressed for the occasion, but Emmy dragged me around to her friend, saying, "This is my 'auntie' Lisa! She's a real fancy lady!" LOL

I was not at all into the horses, but I had a great time helping the girls make their necklaces. That's way more up my alley. :D

Out of the mouths of babes...

One of my cousins, 9, calls me "the author," which is great praise from her. (She wants to follow in my footsteps; she doesn't realize those footsteps lead to editing a magazine about cleaning the potty).

My other cousin, 7, thinks I'm boring. (I'm more of the bookish type who doesn't really know how to goof around with a kid who thinks she is entitled to be entertained 24/7. Plus, I don't dress like they do out in California.)
