Anyone else watch "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" this weekend?
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 06:24 PM by khephra
"From the mind of Craig McCracken, creator of The PowerPuff Girls, comes a world where imaginary friends become real the instant a kid thinks them up. Everyone can see them, everyone can talk to them—-but sometimes, not everyone wants them. Luckily, they're always welcome at Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, where they can stay until a new kid adopts them. For 8-year-old Mac, whose mom thinks he's too old for his imaginary friend, Bloo, Foster's is the only place to see his best friend every day and meet a whole new group of friends unlike any he (or anyone) has ever known.
The series is set in a rambling Victorian mansion, overseen by Madame Foster, that serves as a haven for imaginary friends who are no longer wanted or needed by their former owners."

McCracken has done it again, imo. They're showing a replay of the 1 hour and a half pilot right now on Cartoon Network. It has an Addam's Family/Beetlejuice vibe going for it, so I'm grooving to it so far.

1. Also throw in a bit of "Little Monsters" and "Where the Wild Things Are"
And then you'd have "Foster's".

I'm sure a hell glad that I got into this show on the ground level! I just hope it lasts longer than Zim.

3. I'm still pissed about Zim
Everything I like gets canceled. Fosters sounds great; I'll check it out. Thanks :hi:

4. The next episode will be on this coming Friday
And the last repeat of the 90 minute pilot will be on Thursday night at 6pm CT on Cartoon Network.

Oh, and as a Zim fan you probably already know it, but season two of Zim comes out on DVD in the next few weeks, iirc.

5. Thanks! I've always liked sharing discoveries of "good stuff" as so much
sucks in every medium. Additionally, it helps keep the shows I like on the air. ;-)

6. Oh, and I forgot to add...
that it's one of those animated shows that can be viewed on mulitple levels. There's obvious Pac-Man references throughout the first show. You'll get them if you're old enough to have played the coin-op, but the jokes will mostly go over the head of the younger viewers.

7. Reminds me of "The Brave Little Toaster"
meets "My Life as a Teenage Robot."

Good stuff.

9. These new guys... McCracken, Tartakovsky, Renzetti....

They're a new Hanna-Barbarra/Warner Bros.

It's a whole new generation of incredible work. It's really interesting to watch.

10. I totally agree
I'm so glad we have this new generation. Maybe we should throw in the Pixar people too.

My mother was hired to be a Disney animator, but then she ended up having me instead. There's always been a strong interest in animation in our household as a result. For years there was nothing and then we ended up with the first of the "next wavers" of animation when The Simpsons, Bevis and Butthead, & Ren and Stimpy hit us. Happy, happy, joy, joy! ;-)

Now we have the wave after that hitting their strides. It is wonderful--most wonderful--to watch!
