Poll question: Do you own a gun?
Only two options here. I don't think there's a gray area.

2. What if you own more than one?
If you own, say, 27 or 28 guns is it proper to say you own "a" gun?

:argh:

3. You have to own one in order to own 2, or 10, or 28.

5. Two.
Niether much use for home defense.

One is a authentic 1850 Navy Cap and Ball, Allegedly captured from a Yankee Sailor in Mobile Alabama. I don't know if it's safe to use, so it is unloaded, and I own no ammunition for it.

The other is a replica 'Brown Bess' musket. I do have ammunition (Powder, ball and shot), but it is kept unloaded, and takes me forever to load. Give me 10 minutes, and I could give some poor slob a load of buck and ball (plus burning cordite)(assuming 'in home defense range), any less than 10 minutes and it's a clumsy club.

7. One gray area here...
I hate guns. Scare the hell out of me.

I shoot well, when I have gone shooting with friends; a 22 when I was a kid, several different types of handguns with a former boyfriend who was teaching me to shoot a couple of years ago.

Currently debating taking classes (safety, of course, general gun care, etc.) and buying a gun. The hateful climate in this country over the past 20 years has me wondering if I'm safer with or without a gun at home.

Oh, btw, single female, no children, dogs don't have opposible thumbs, so gun safety at home shouldn't be a problem. But I don't want to be shot with my own gun, either.

We have concealed carry in NV. And I think we can strap on a gun belt and wear it openly, as well. Some issues about concealed in the car.

Anyway, fence sitting in the gray area.

Just thought I'd share.

21. despite their reactionary politics the nra
offers excellent pistol safety classes. all the actual hands on gun stuff that nra does is first rate. you don't have to join to take their classes

27. Thanks for the information

I think we also have several good gun shops/ranges here in Vegas.

And in Pahrump (just over the hill), I can learn all kinds of safety/survival skills with all kinds of cool guns.

10. None
Not ever. My Dad owned guns and I have shot them. I think I would be less safe with guns because I have no desire to learn how to handle or shoot guns.

I posted this because everyone else who posted, at the time, owned guns.

18. I have an antique pistol that belonged to my grandfather.
It's no longer in firing condition, though.

I would like to have a pistol I could take to the range and shoot stuff with, though.

20. i own 6 guns and i'm getting an AR-15 next week
one rifle is a bolt action single shot 22 that i got for my 10th birthday , one is a 1936 french military rifle captured in viet nam, one is a really crappy 22 semi auto. my pistols, a makarov semi auto(warsaw pact imitation of a walther ppk) and a smith and wesson .32 cal revolver and a ruger .22 semi-auto target pistol. so i need the ar just to have one functioning modern rifle.

if i fall completly into gun-nutism, i can buy a conversion kit at any gun show to convert the AR to full auto. but that would be a felony

good advice! might i add that it's a good idea to have 1 in the caliber that you might find ammunition just laying around, let's say, near a dusted stormtrooper?

25. No because I have a very bad temper and I know enough
about myself never to own one.

I also have small curious kids.

However I don't argue with anyone else's right to own one but I do think they bear the responsibility of ownership just like car owners do...

26. I have...
... a .25 auto boot pistol,
a .40 Glock 22c hand cannon,
a Ruger 10/22 plinking rifle,
a Remington 870 Express 12 gauge shotgun and
a Remington 30.06 rifle.

I think my next gun will be a .22 magnum, a "split the difference" between the pretty benign 10/22 and the "knock you backwards" 30.06. :)

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool LIBERAL and I am armed. IMHO, all liberals should be.
