Did anyone see "Alien vs Predator" over the weekend?
I really want to see this movie, even with all the bad reviews. I really, really like the Alien and Predator movies (even some of the crappier sequels, like Alien 3 and 4 and Predator 2), so even if AVP isn't very good, it'll still be pretty cool.

But as long as it has Aliens and Predators kicking the shit out of each other I can't complain too much.

Does anyone have a review to share?

1. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This was an atrocious movie. Ruins both franchises.

On edit: I saw it on Friday. There aren't even any good fight scenes, as the action is filmed so closely that you can't even see what's going on. There's no intense fear that both franchises had. It's corny, it's lame, it's a waste of your $10.

2. How so?
Does it screw with continuity too much, or does it just plain suck?

3. I edited my original post
Gave a few more details without giving up plot in case you do go see it (not that the plot is special at all).

4. Don't waste your money.... rent porn
OK - to be fair....for a PG-13...

It was half-way entertaining if you stuck to strictly the visuals and didn't pay attention to what was being said. The Predators were obviously the coolest part of the movie, and there are a few good fight scenes. However, a lot of it has to be taken tongue-in-cheek. The movie was filmed assuming you were going in light-hearted, it begs not to be compared to any worthwile movie, just enjoy the special effects.

P.S. I wish they did away with all the extra story building bullshit and added more action with Predators involved.

The Alien series died a horrible death the day Alien 3 came out. Figured this would suck too.

Sad thing is no matter how bad a movie sucks, 80% of them make back their budget on DVD sales and rentals.

People wonder why sequels to shitty movies are being made, they know it's easy money.

Take Shrek 2 for an example. It is nowhere near as good as the first. But it is now the #3 movie of ALL TIME in the United States.

The damn thing beat E.T !!!

5. AS FAR AS ENTERTAINMENT - IT IS A SIMPLE AND AMUSING FILM
I always liked the ensemble actors and tyrying to figure out who might survive and how.

It strains all credib8ility as a film - but I brought my son, who is 10, toi see it and we had a good time.

The lead female is a babe too

6. I was going to...
...But then I decided to see "The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi" instead.

I was not disappointed.

7. Yeah, and I didn't think it was too bad
It was certainly no masterpiece but it was simple mindless fun. I didn't think it screwed with the continuity too much, but I wouldn't have really cared if it did because Alien: Resurrection ruined the franchise for me. I enjoyed this movie far more than I did that one, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as long as you're not expecting anything more than mindless action and eye candy. I think that's where the movie's strong point really lies, it doesn't take itself too seriously.
