We should ask some of our soldiers and Iraqis/Afghanis about this.

4. wasn't wounded incountry,

but got some knife wounds when i was a policeman. it hurts.

seen alot of badly wounded, dead, or dying people in my career; none of them seemed to be having a good time.

BTW, if you're not @ point of impact, you can hear the shrapnel whirling at you or overhead. had some very near misses. not a pleasant sound.

you can also hear a sonic crack when an AK round passes close; the slug breaks the sound barrier so it's like a mini sonic boom when it's close.

don't like to tell "war stories", but this much detail i'm comfortable w/. & your post sounded very sincere.

because we amble along our regular lives with not much going on in them while some are suffering untold horror that we don't often stop to contemplate.

11. An AK-47 round fragmented...

and a chunk caught me in the face. It split my nose from the tip all the way to between my eyes. My nose was hanging from my face in two mangled bloody flaps. I was amazed because so much blood was spewing everywhere but it really did not hurt (stung a bit), at least not at first. The real pain hit a couple of seconds later.
