my uncle (closest relative) did. i went to william & mary. our football team is so little and unathletic they'd lose to local high schools. so i have to live vicariously in the fall through my uncle's alma mater.

I can't wait for football season. The weather has been so cool it feels like they should be playing now.

Early reports out of practice at LSU show a team thta is reloading for another run at a championship. Holes from departing stars remain at QB, WR, and DL, but a string of top-ranked recruiting classes have the Tigers filling these holes with players as good or better than their predecessors.

I would venture to say that this LSU team is among the fastest college teams to ever hit the field. Right now WR Benie Brazelle is not in practice b/c he is at the Olympics preparing to run the 100 Hudles and the team relay. Word has it that true Freshman WR,Xavier Carter, raced Brazelle after practice one day and left him standing in his shoes. That's fast folks.

3. Cal Grad, but USC is WAY too good . . .

I'm a lifelong Cal fan -- been watching games in Berkeley since 1963. But I've seen the Trojans over the last couple of years, and am watching the press in LA.

The Trojans look like they did in the John McKay and early John Robinson days. They'll kick ass this year -- and unfortunately we play them EVERY YEAR.

They'll beat everyone to a pulp this year, you watch.

7. Today I went to see the Crimson Tide scrimmage

It was the first time I've been to Bryant-Denny Stadium in a long time. Team looked pretty good, but it's hard to tell when you're playing yourself. :) I think we're going to be much improved from last year... but that, by itself, isn't saying a lot. I got to meet Coach Shula's wife. She seemed very nice.

Even though Arkansas isn't going to be as good this year, under Mack Brown Texas can lose to anyone if there is pressure. I live in Austin, and I'm telling you fans were calling for a new coach last year after the Razorbacks took it to them in Austin. They will collapse again and I'll be smiling the whole time.

Pacific no longer has a football team. Had some buddies who played for UOP in the 80's. They had some decent teams but lacked the depth and resources to compete at even a upper mid level of Division One. AD always scheduled them to play a national power in order to help fund the program. Invariably they would get their asses kicked and lose a key player or two and wind up losing their next two games while they recovered. They said that they could compete and keep it close were it not for the fact that schools like Nebraska, Auburn, and LSU were usually three deep at every postition. Except for Nebraska, who treats their patsies with respect, most college towns promoted the games with UOP as battles with the hated liberal stoners from the beach in California. Even though UOP is 90 miles from the ocean and freeper city.
