Woman Can't Register Her Car Because Authorities Say She Is Dead
<snip>

A BELGIAN woman can't register her new car because authorities say she is dead.

Christina Lauwers, of Antwerp, was informed by the Central Administration for the Registration of Vehicles they could not register the car in her name because she died two years ago.

"They wouldn't accept my word that I was still alive," Ms Lauwers said.

She said she became aware of the error when her husband, Guy Karnas, received a letter from the city administration to say it was sorry his wife had died in November 2002.

A spokesman from the Antwerp city administra tion promised to do their best to solve the problem.

1. If the government says that you're legally dead,
but then discovers the mistake, do you still have to pay taxes for that period?
