Would Marge and Homer celebrate their 16th, or their 20th as noteworthy?

Would they, in fact, have a huge party for their 40th Anniversary, but not their 50th?

Relevant question to follow.

1. All I Know Is That I Just Realized Last Night
While watching the classic episode when Marge almost has the affair w/ Albert Brooks (The Bowling Ball Ep), that Homer is either 34 or 35 and that I am now older than Homer Simpson...

3. Let me rephrase the question.......
Why do people think it so very important to celebrate anniversaries?

Why is 20 such a big deal compared to say........21!!

I thought that since the Simpsons only have 4 digits on each hand, that they might celebrate 16 the way we celebrate 20.

Any thoughts???

11. They'd STILL Celebrate 20!
Edited on Tue Aug-17-04 11:05 AM by Beetwasher
Even w/ 4 digits on each finger! It's a multiple of 4! Although, you're probably implying multiples of 8...Though we celebrate the multiples of 5 in our culture, so to extend it to the Simpsons is WOULD be the multiples of 4...

I do agree though, everything on the Simpsons should, theoretically be in base 8....

6. We celebrated our FIRST in a big way
In that we went to Key West. Hopefully we will REALLY celebrate it this year-November 2nd.

BTW- I believe that "celebrating" to Homer equates to eating mustard packages down at Moe's.

7. I'm not sure
As we (Michael and I) have only had one anniversary party. It was our first and we had to get rid of the frozen top layer of the cake, as it was taking up most of our freezer space! :-)

8. One is important.
But afterwards, it would seem, that phases or events, rather than just numbers divisible by 10 should be celebrated.

It doesn't take anything away from the fact that I'll be very pleased to celebrate a milestone anniversary this year, but..........

I think that the next time I'm really gonna feeling like celebrating...is when we become empty nesters. Something that you can't really put an exact time on. There's gonna be a big effin' party then, you mark my words!!!! LOL!!!!!!
