My blog needs a new name
Well, specifically, it needs a new domain -- The Wisconsinite is closing up shop; I'll have hosting for the Vast Dairy State Conspiracy for a few months. After that, I'll need to move it somewhere, and I'd rather do it before I have to.

I'm thinking of getting my own domain name -- something non-geographically-specific, so if I move, I don't have to change it again; and something a little broader, so I can write about whatever the hell I want (The Wisconsinite brought me on specifically as a current events/politics blogger, with liberty to occasionally veer off-topic). But I'd still like a political slant.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to not include my name (screen or real) in my URL; beyond that, I'm open.

Thanks.

1. Use godaddy.com
Pretty cheap. You can register a domain and get your site hosted all in the same place. I use them and I have my own little domain w/email.

Do you know offhand whether they support Moveable Type?

Thanks.

5. Not sure. They'll probably have something on their site
about that.

I've been with godaddy for a while and I've never had any problems. They have great online support and I've never been billed incorrectly or anything.

4. don't use godaddy
I've heard horrible stories of domain hijacking and theft from people using godaddy. Get a good domain register.

I suggest domainnamesystems.com - I strongly recommend them. Been using them for 5 years and can't say anything bad about them :)

6. I have two sites with them and haven't had any problems
Most of the folks here in my IT department use godaddy as well. I haven't heard of domain hijacking or anything like that.
