COOL THINGS ABOUT BEING GAY
Knowing intuitively and from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE what your partner is most likely to enjoy.

Fashion.

Knowing the lyrics to more musicals than most of your straight friends.

1. We're more honest and up front with sexuality
At least on the internet, I'm as bashful as a bloated basset hound in 'real life' though. :-(

5. My partner and I share shirts and ties... I'm 4" taller than he is, so...
my pants are too long for him, and his too short for me. But we can share short pants... but not shoes.

but you wouldn't do that... would you? or would you? Hmmm.

Maybe I should preview them first. You're kinda tricky at times... hard to read and unpredictable.

6. Looking like you are in your late 20's when you are 40...
...because you care about your self-image enough to make the effort to groom yourself and take care of yourself.

Personally, being gay has been an enlightening experience. I am a better person for having been on the receiving end of societal prejudice and I think that in part it is why I am not a bigot or provincial like my two older brothers who only see the world from their own view.

9. Isn't That Maddening???
It's bad enough for strangers to treat you like that, but when our OWN FAMILY MEMBERS are at odds with us... it's just too depressing to even try to describe.

29. Yup
Just got rid of the goatee (I go thru phases) and folks think I'm in my twenties ... all of 37 here. My partner, who's 40 looks younger than his 20 something year old bros...of course the graying hair's a dead giveaway.

Must be all the ichor from bright upstanding hetereosexual marriages that we suck dry every night before going to bed with our 30 partners... ;)

My roommate last year was gay, and a Theatre major, so all I heard all day in the room was musical soundtracks.

I HATE MUSICALS.

musicals. (The money's good) so if it show up in any form other than a line of Rockettes, I doubt I'll take notice.

25. Agreed.
Movie musicals are a different thing altogether. (Said the cinema buff)

For me, they are all about the cinematography...representation of what can't be done on a stage. Can really enhance the impact of the music. For example - West Side Story.

Cause man, if men good get pregnant, I probaly would have 10 kids by now!

BTW, that statement isn't to make me sound like a slut. I've been with the same man for 3 1/2 years and we get regular HIV tests.

33. Being perfectly free to show my feminine side.
I know there are some people in this country who disparage the idea of being "sensitive". Well, they can go fuck themselves.

Being gay, for me, demolishes the notion that you have to "be a MAN, dammit!". That is, I don't have to adhere to some moronic definition of "manhood". And I like that part of being gay very much. :-)

35. Being Just SO FABULOUS!!!
All my friends agree I couldn't be as fab as I am if I were straight, and they love the fact that I am fab.

Honestly though the biggest thing I love about being gay is that I HAVE SUCH FREEDOM WITH JOKES!

I can say just about anything, and I mean ANYTHING, and I can make it hillarious. I can joke about body image and CLOTHES and fashion and music and boys in a way that I just couldn't if I were straight and that would just be sad.

Plus I have permission to be as sarcastic as I like, and I like being sarcastic. :)
