Family Of Drowned LaCrosse Student Files Claims Against City, State
Jared Dion Died In April

POSTED: 11:38 am EDT August 17, 2004

LA CROSSE, Wis -- The family of drowned University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student Jared Dion has filed notices of claim with the city and the state.

The claims say the city and the university contributed to Dion's drowning death.

The 21-year-old disappeared April 10 after leaving a downtown bar. His body was found in the Mississippi River four days later.

The city and state should countersue the estate to get back the money they spent looking for his drunken ass.

2. "City, State Tell Family to Blow It Out Their Ass"
should be the next headline.

4. There have been a rash of drownings in LaCrosse.
Someone should remind drunks that it's hard to swim in the Mississippi.

5. Austin better watch out, then!
Our biggest music and bar venue, "Sixth Street," is just six blocks from Town Lake, the section of the Colorado River that runs through the city. The City of Austin bills itself as the "Live Music Capital of the World."

Then there's the Warehouse District in the Third and Fourth Street vicinity -- that's even closer! And what about "SoCo" -- the South Congress area on the other side of the river?!! And OMG, all those restaurants on Barton Springs Road -- there's a CREEK over there, for goodness sake!

It's a slew of lawsuits just waiting to happen, I tell ya!
