Cat friendly cafe opens in NYC
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/Northeast/08/18/cat.cafe.ap/

NEW YORK (AP) -- Dressed in a tuxedo, Simba sat at the front of one of Manhattan's newest dining establishments and nodded at people who greeted him.

Then he yawned, began to roll on the floor and lick his paws.

That's acceptable behavior at the Meow Mix Cafe, a new eatery designed especially for cats and their human owners.

Singer and actress Eartha Kitt poses with a cat at the opening of the Meow Mix Cafe for cats on Tuesday in New York.

"Why not take your cat out for dinner?" asked Simba's owner, Leah Thompson, 19. "There's always things for dogs, but never cats."

The midtown restaurant serves Meow Mix packets for its feline customers with corresponding dishes to satisfy human palates.

1. Jebus . . . I bet that place is a frickin' mess at the end of the day.
Cat's don't quite get along as well as dogs do. I bet the CATerwauling is of near CATastrophic proportions eh?

Sorry, bad (but irresistble) puns.

3. I don't think I'd let my cat go
do cat's have to be screened for infectious diseases before they go? And is meow mix the only choice of food? My babies are to spoiled to endure this.

7. I'd bring my cat
but she lives with my parents. She doesn't really like to socialize that much anyway.

8. I forsee this business venture going badly
cats are territorial. All it will take is one badass cat rumble to send the customers running.

9. "Why not take your cat out for dinner?"
Let's see. Because Kitties #1 and #2 like to throw up and poop on themselves whenever we put them in the car and our dinner companions might find that a tad off-putting? Or because Kitty #3 tends to shriek herself into near-coronary arrest if we take her outside at all?

Good grief. I love my cats, but this has to be the stupidest idea ever.
