22. I saw them play 4 songs in Tampa in 77. Then the rain came and
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 07:32 PM by maveric
washed the concert out. This was followed by a riot outside Tampa Stadium, prompting the mayor to cancel the re-scheduled show the next day.

Then in Boston in 73, 40,000 lined up outside Boston garden to buy 10,000 tickets weeks before the show. People were pushing and fighting so they let the crowd inside the Gah-den (Bruins ice was on the floor), for a lottery system. It was chaos inside. Asshole drunks broke into concession stands and stole hundreds of cases of bottled beer. Seats were ripped out and used as sleds on the ice. Beer bottles hit the ice from the cheap seats. It was barbarism at its worst. After many injuries, arrests and millions of $$$ of damage the Mayor of Boston (Kevin White), cancelled the show. Zepplin never played in Boston again.

34. I was at that show. Riot on the inside of the stadium in front of stage.
We were up in the stands and saw the police come in swinging.

Their contract stated they only had to play 20 minutes to fulfill concert obligations and the fuckers played 20 minutes with that big nasty cloud moving in over the stadium.

Wasn't that the year that Plant's young son died during the tour and they canceled all remaining shows?

39. I was on the field when the black cloud came over the stadium,
and just seemed to stop right over it and then not move. We were all saying "Its not gonna rain, No, its not gonna rain". Then the sky opened up. Water was rushing down the concrete steps like a waterfall! I've never seen so much rain fall in one short period of time in my life.
It was a shame that some drunks tipped and burned so many police cars and ruined it for everyone else. That was stupid.

Torn down for a freaking hotel. What a cultural loss.

Frank Zappa shows recorded for Bongo Fury, Little Feat with Lowell George, Tubes, New Riders, Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen, Joy of Cooking, Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks, many more.

Greatest. Venue. Ever.

28. What BAND do I regret not seeing? My Bloody Valentine.
The two SHOWS I regret most not seeing.....

(1) Mudhoney, Tad and Nirvana in the fall of 1989 in London, where I was living at the time. I actually did see Tad later on and have seen Mudhoney live three times since then, but I never did see Nirvana, and I lost what would have been an awesome chance to see all three bands in a relatively small club setting.

(2) My Bloody Valentine, Superchunk and Pavement all together in 1992 at the CMJ Festival in New York (even though I later did see Superchunk separately).

67. The 70's was the decade of concerts for me......
But I never did see Queen, darn it. The Grateful Dead as a band. I did get to see Jerry Garcia in a bar in the SF bay area do a few tunes, impromptu. He was out partying with friends and havin' a night on the town. In the right place at the right time.

The Beatles of course and John Lennon solo, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and the Doors, Alvin Lee and Ten Years After, Jefferson Airplane, Cat Stevens, Moody Blues, Brian Ferry and Roxy Music, Santana and I'll add Nirvana to my list of, 'I wish I had seen em'. Many more I'm sure, that are not coming to mind at the moment.

Yet I did see many popular huge name bands during the 70's. That was a great decade concert wise for me. :smoke:

73. The band I most regret not seeing live was Rockpile.
The solo act was Jim Croce. He was scheduled to come to Minneapolis on his fall 1973 tour, but his plane crashed. I was a senior in high school, and I was crushed.

76. Blue Oyster Cult. Just kidding.
I've seen BOC over 50 times.

I wish I had seen Stevie Ray Vaughn live.

84. "Little Feat"
I got interested in them just after Lowell George died. I saw them in some post-George incarnation, but it didn't quite do it for me.
