Woman Arrested After Running Over Husband With Minivan - FIVE TIMES!
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 09:32 AM by matcom
<snip>

PALMER -- Horrified, neighbors watched a 50-year-old man scream for mercy as his wife allegedly used her minivan to run him over five times in the parking lot of their apartment building, police and witnesses said yesterday.

Starleen A. Rutkowski, 46, was arrested at the scene late Tuesday and arraigned yesterday in Palmer District Court on one count of murder in the death of her husband, Richard J. Rutkowski, whom police found severely injured outside the Country Manor apartment complex in the town's Three Rivers section. Medical officials later pronounced him dead at the nearby Wing Memorial Hospital.

''The preliminary investigation indicates that Mrs. Rutkowski intentionally struck Mr. Rutkowski with their white 1999 Dodge Caravan during a domestic dispute," police said in a statement.

During questioning, Starleen Rutkowski told police her husband had wandered off while the two were fishing on Tuesday, the Associated Press reported. Angry, she apparently returned home and tossed his possessions on the lawn of the apartment complex. Later, when he returned, he reportedly started laughing at her, and at about 8 p.m. she allegedly ran him over in the parking lot behind the complex's A building, neighbors and officials said.

Rutkowski, who pleaded not guilty, was ordered held without bail yesterday at the Hampden County House of Correction in Ludlow. A pretrial conference was scheduled on Sept. 16. Her lawyer did not return calls last night.

''I just heard a car screech, and then I heard a man screaming, 'No! No!' " said Cederia Richer, 30, a neighbor in the apartment complex. ''It got to the point where it sounded like a really scary scream."

I knew a Starlene in college (UConn in the late 80s)... I think she was either an engineering or computer science major, quite attractive and definitely not a "kiss my grits" type. Too young to be this woman, though.

Edited to add - I think I recall her saying that her parents were "children of the 60s"

2. It was an accident.
Then, another accident. Then she thought maybe she ran over the curb, so she backed up to get off the curb. Then, another accident. Then she thought she hit a dog, so she stopped the car.

11. someone did that already
It was in California a couple of years ago. A doctor's wife, or they were both doctors and she had twins.

When a woman's enraged over a cheatin' man, watch out.

16. When my ex broke the news
that he was leaving me for his 22 yr old assistant...y'know, the one he'd just gotten back from the 'business trip' to Chicago with...? :eyes:

It wasn't so much that he cheated...people have needs, these things happen etc. Whatever. But I was suspicious of said *trip* from the get-go, and then to find out he lied, like he thought I was THAT stupid...:grr: :nuke:

I literally had to have a 24 hr babysitter for about a month so I wouldn't kill his ass. I was SERIOUSLY going to kill his ass. Like, not metaphorically... Thank goodness my friends knew me so well they volunteered and took turns, or I might be typing this from Ye Olde Gray Bar Inn...

:D

19. I feel ya
While running from my violent ex he jumped on the hood of my car to try to stop me. I took off, then slammed on the brakes and threw him. It was all I could do to keep myself from running the SOB flat!! I wanted to, but he wasn't worth doing time over.

7. Now, that's real passion....
When I was young and married to an asshold, there were times when I was tempted to take drastic measures...Dixie Chicks, 'cause Earl had to die...goodbye Earl..Instead, I took my little kids and ran off 300 miles away from the danger. You know, I didn't see that man again until my kids graduated from Law School, and he was still the same asshole.

15. A new trend?
I just read it to my husband. I warned him it would not take more than once in my heavy duty truck. I think he may be worried. At least he will try not to piss me off today.
