"Paranoia strikes deep, into your life it will creep..."
"It starts when you're always afraid, step outta line the men come and take you away." - Buffalo Springfield, "For What It's Worth"

It's really sad that all these songs written during the Vietnam era are so relevant again...

1. There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me, you've got to beware.

2. That's a great song
Ironically, it was not written about Vietnam, but about the heavy-handed police tactics used to quell a demonstration outside a club called Pandora's Box. They were widening Sunset Blvd. and were going to tear it down so kids staged a sit-in. This was in 1966. Of course, it didn't take long for the song to take on a whole new meaning in light of world events.

4. And it's still every bit as potent.
One line especially rings true: "Young people speaking their minds, gettin' so much resistance from behind."

That line was true in the 60s, and it's true today.

5. 49 reasons all in her eyes
All of them good ones
All of them lies......

Back in the day when music talked about things that mattered.
